🎉 Please join us in congratulating Professor Eric Kerrigan, who was awarded the 2025 Honeywell International Award from the Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC) “for distinguished work in control” at a ceremony on Thursday evening, held at the Royal Institution.   InstMC Awards recognise those who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of measurement and control. Previous recipients of this award include former Head of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Professor David Limebeer.

The last two days have been a 5 year licensing review with the engineering council followed by awards night (and my last day at InstMC). What a way to leave! I have talked, laughed and cried (sorry!) more in the last few days than I ever could have imagined. I’ve had the time of my life with The Institute of Measurement and Control and will forever be grateful for the trust put in me during this time. What an incredible bunch of people to get to work with - it’s been an absolute pleasure! Stephanie Smith Caroline T. Honoured last night to have been awarded the Institute of Measurement and Control’s prestigious Lambert Award at the Royal Institution. The L.B. Lambert Award is awarded for meritorious service to the Institute through significant involvement with Local Sections, Special Interest Groups and InstMC committees. I was delighted to have served as: - Wessex Section - Education Officer – 21 years (started our Lego Mindstorms programme). Wessex Section – Vice Chair - 5 years. InstMC Cyber SIG - Founding Chair - 5 years. Founding Member of the UK Cyber Security Council with the UK Cyber Alliance – 6 years ongoing. Many awards last night made to incredible people in our Institute during the ceremony held at The Royal Institution in London. Representative buddies from the old Wessex Section were there to cheer. A great opportunity to meet The Chief, Steff, and all the Central Team again. 👍 Also looked around the historical Faraday Museum there which is well worth a look in. Long day yesterday attending the Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC) Council meeting on behalf of InstMC - Central Northwest committee. This was followed by the Annual General Meeting, 2 Extraordinary General Meetings and the Annual Awards Night. At the AGM it was announced that I have been elected as Vice-President of the institute (and Trustee position). I will take up position on 1st January 2026 and I am looking forward to the challenge of this position. I was delighted to see Ben Thompson receive the 'Institute Award for Exceptional Early Career Engineers' and Claire Jones receiving the 'L B Lambert Award' at the Annual Awards Night hosted at the Royal Institute, the location in which Michael Faraday discovered electro-magnetism (inventing the electric motor) a very brief look around at the museum and his laboratory from the 1800's is still there to see. Ben's award was based on his project that we awarded him the 'Early Career Engineer' in 2024. Claire's award was for her work in the Women in Measurement Automation and Control (WiMAC) network, a newly formed network in the past few years to encourage more ladies into the area of engineering in Measurement, Automation and Control. #InstMCcnw #AnnualAwards #VicePresident2026_28
